Carol Lee Estus (née Sander) was born Dec. 1, 1934, and passed away peacefully in her sleep August 22, 2026.
Carol was born and raised in Seiling, Oklahoma, including time spent on the family farm located off Highway 183 toward Taloga. Her life took her to many places over the years, including Mississippi, New York, California, Ohio, and Colorado.
She met George while she was single and working for Martin Marietta in California. Together they built a life that included living in Palmdale, Santa Maria, Seiling, San Francisco, Denver, and Cleveland as George's career with United Airlines took them to different places.
Carol became a nurse, attending college in Ohio and eventually working as a nurse in both Cleveland and Seiling. Nursing was an important part of her life, but so was caring for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker who always seemed to have time for the people she loved.
Carol and George loved to travel, and over the years they traveled extensively throughout the United States and internationally. One of their memorable adventures was traveling by RV to Alaska. Family was an important part of those travels and memories, including time with many close relatives.
In retirement, Carol spent her winters in Yuma, Arizona. Even into her 90s, she remained active and independent. She loved working around the house and was proud of her flowers and lawn. She liked to take care of things herself, even dragging a water hose as she tended to her yard.
Carol was also deeply involved in her community. She served as chair of the Area Medical Association, where she worked to support Seiling Hospital. She served on the Seiling Library Board and was a member of the Music Lovers Club, including their work with the thrift shop. She also delivered meals from the Senior Center to homebound residents in Seiling, Chester and the surrounding area. Above all, Carol was fiercely devoted to her family, treasuring the time spent with family members. Her kindness, independence, generosity, and love for family and community will be deeply missed.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, George Estus, her parents, Homer and Lola Sander, brother Keith Sander, and children Michael Mullins and Lisa Estus. She leaves behind sons, Robert Mullins and Steven (Janice) Estus, grandchildren Lyndsey Beverlin, Joshua (Rachel) Estus, Emily (Ben) Estus, and Zachary Estus, and great-grandchildren Tony and Parker Wissinger, and Samuel and Otto Estus.
Services will be held Saturday at 10AM in the Christian Church in Seiling with Shane Sander officiating. Carol Estus final resting place will be in Brumfield Cemetery, between her husband George and her children Michael and Lisa.
Memorial Donations may be made in Carol’s Memory to the Area Medical Foundation or Brumfield Cemetery c/o Redinger Funeral Home, Box 236, Seiling, OK 73663.
