Deloris Pauline Perky Fields, age 91, passed away on August 13, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 30, 1935, in her aunt’s home near Elkhart, Kansas, approximately 20 miles from the family farm. She was the daughter of Ray Burch and Anna Beth Williams Perky.

Deloris spent her younger years on the family farm, located 10 miles northeast of Keyes, OK, with her siblings, Charlene, Lester, Kay, and Walter. She attended school in Keyes and graduated from Keyes High School in 1953.

Following high school, Deloris attended Panhandle A&M, now Panhandle State University, in Goodwell, OK. There, she met Harold Fields of Gage, OK. They were married on July 4, 1957, at the First United Methodist Church in Keyes, OK. Together, they pursued careers in Education, which included Home Economics, Special Education, Elementary Education, Industrial Arts, Math and Science.

After graduating from college, Deloris and Harold moved their family to Manter, KS. Their teaching careers took them to Corona, NM; Springlake-Earth, Texas; and several Oklahoma communities, including Gage, Felt, Ames, Reydon, Cement, Canton, Camargo, and Woodward. During the summers, they continued their education by working toward their master’s degrees at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK; Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM; and Western Colorado University in Gunnison, CO.

Throughout her marriage, Deloris worked faithfully alongside Harold to help support their growing family. She found great joy in teaching, and after retiring, she continued serving others by cooking at the Senior Citizen Center in Seiling, Oklahoma.

Deloris cherished her family. Her grandchildren affectionately called her “adorable” and “sweet little ladybug.” She was the apple of their eyes, and they truly adored her. She was the beloved matriarch of her family, setting an example of right living while sharing an abundance of love with everyone around her. Her standards will be difficult to match, but the example she leaves behind will continue to guide her family.

Deloris treasured opportunities to spend time with her family, and she often ended her telephone conversations by saying, “I love you. I love you very much.” Those words, spoken so often and so sincerely, will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved her.

Deloris’s greatest desire was to serve God and to worship together with her family whenever the church doors were open. Even a snowstorm could not easily keep the family from attending church. She was actively involved in women’s ministry throughout her life and, at the time of her passing, was a member of Taloga Assembly of God. Her deep faith, loving spirit, and devotion to her family formed the foundation of the life she lived.

Deloris was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Anna Beth Perky, who passed away at age 48; her stepmother, Daisy Perky; her brother, Walter Perky; one son, Galen Howard; and her granddaughter, Carrie Ann Nance.

She is survived by her siblings, Charlene Nash of Seiling, OK; Lester Perky of Birmingham, AL; Kay Evans of Conway, AR; brother-in-law, Glen Fields of Portales, NM and sister-in-law Doris Via-Taylor of Piedmont, SC.

Surviving children are Bonita Hammontree and husband, James of Catoosa, OK; Janet Nance of Seiling, OK; Troy and wife, Linda of Seiling; and Delena Link and husband, Dwight of Branson, MO. She has eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
