Edra Lois Patterson Shuck was born on February 29, 1928, in Quinlan, Oklahoma, to Jesse Robert Patterson and Lulu Mary (Wolf) Patterson. She passed from this life and entered her heavenly home on September 14, 2026, at the age of 98 years, 6 months, and 16 days.
Edra grew up in a large family with six sisters and one brother. She spent most of her childhood in the Quinlan area and graduated from Mooreland High School.
On June 8, 1946, Edra married the love of her life, John H. Shuck, in Mooreland, Oklahoma. Together they built a life and family they treasured and were blessed with five children: Roenna, Linda, Barbara, Johnny, and James.
Edra was a devoted wife and mother and was known for being an exceptional cook and organizer. She worked as a school cook and later became a restaurateur at Lake Hefner Golf Course in Oklahoma City, where she remained until her retirement.
Faith was an important part of Edra’s life. She was a member of the Assembly of God church wherever she called home and held a strong belief in her Lord and Savior. She tried to live her life in a way that reflected that faith.
Edra also enjoyed the simple things that brought her happiness, including crocheting, sewing, and making her famous plum jelly.
Edra was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, Jesse and Lulu Patterson; her son, James Shuck; her daughter, Roenna Gregersen; her maternal grandparents, Isaac and Mary Wolf; and her paternal grandparents, Hugh and Bessie Patterson. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Frances, Bessie, Fay, Roberta, and Janis, and her brother, Robert.
Edra leaves behind a loving family, including her children, Linda Cooper of Newalla, Oklahoma; Barbara Meinke and husband Dan of Midwest City, Oklahoma; and Johnny Shuck of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Amie Ennis and husband Mike of Killeen, Texas; Michael Cooper of Choctaw, Oklahoma; John Shuck and wife Lindsey of Midwest City, Oklahoma; Rana Shelton and husband Paul of Yukon, Oklahoma; and Patrick Stacks and partner Tanya of Magnolia, Texas; as well as her great-grandchildren, Stella Shuck, Colin Shuck, and Kaylei Shelton.
Edra is also survived by her sister, Leola Edwards of Cheyenne Valley, Oklahoma, along with numerous other relatives and friends who were blessed to know and love her.
Edra’s life was centered around faith, family, hard work, and caring for those around her. She will be deeply missed, but the love she gave, the memories she created, and the example she set will continue to live on through her family and all those who knew her.
