Obituary

Jimmy Don Moody was born on June 28, 1954, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Bronis and Roy Moody.  He lived in the town of Vivian, LA until 1961 at which time the family moved to Ulysses, Kansas, where Roy began a job at the Amoco gas plant.  They remained there until 1965 at which time they moved north to Lakin, KS where jimmy started 5th  grade.  He graduated high school there in 1973 and then went to work at the CIG gas plant west of Lakin.  Years later he moved to Woodward, OK, where his parents were.  Jim worked at Comstock west of Woodward and built a valve testing and repair facility from the ground up.  After two years there he began his own valve test and repair service, traveling throughout the country repairing and testing safety valves in the gas plant environment.

He began a new chapter of life in 2001 with Kathy Millett, and the couple made their home in Woodward.  Not long after, Jim began working at the Duke Energy gas plant est of Mooreland, OK, and was employed there until his retirement in 2016.  Soon after, Jim and Kathy moved to Waynoka, OK.  Jim enjoyed spending summer months in South Fork, CO, where he fly fished and enjoyed being in the mountains.  He was also quite the cook, as he would cook not only for his dad, but also for friends at Waynoka and at the camp in South Fork.  He enjoyed being with friends and had a very giving spirit.

Jim passed away at mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City on November 5, 2025.  He will be missed by many friends and family members.

Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Millett and parents Roy and Bronis Moody.  He is survived by on stepdaughter, Holly Johnston; one stepson, Roby; brothers David Moody and Larry Moody and wife Debra; uncle Wayman Moody; and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
