Obituary

Oma Jean (Archer) Dunn, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the Satanta Long Term Care Unit in Satanta, Kansas.

She was born on November 12, 1935, in Seiling, Oklahoma, to Jean Wesley Archer and Myrtle Naomi (Redinger) Archer. Oma Jean grew up in Seiling and graduated from Seiling High School with the Class of 1954. Raised in the Seiling Friends Church, she continued her education at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. While attending college, she met the love of her life, Edward Duane Dunn. Their courtship changed the course of her plans, and she remained in Wichita working as a bookkeeper until the couple was married in 1958 at the Seiling Friends Church.

Following their marriage, Duane served in the United States Marine Corps and became a pilot. As a military family, Oma Jean embraced a life of service and adventure, moving to numerous locations throughout Duane’s military career. After retiring from the Marine Corps, Duane continued flying as a commercial airline pilot for many years. The couple especially enjoyed their years in Colorado Springs, Colorado, before eventually returning to Kansas to be closer to family. Throughout their lives, Oma Jean and Duane remained devoted to their faith, worshipping for many years in Friends Churches and later attending The Church of the Nazarene.

Oma Jean was a talented seamstress as a young woman and often made her own clothing. Later in life, she developed a passion for quilting and owned her own quilting machine. She found great joy in creating beautiful quilts for family and friends. She and Duane also enjoyed attending garage sales together. Saturday morning often found them carefully mapping out their route so they could visit as many sales as possible. The simple pleasures of family, faith, creativity, and time spent with loved ones brought her great happiness throughout her life.

Oma Jean is survived by her husband of 68 years, Edward “Duane” Dunn of Satanta, Kansas: three sone, Kent Dunn and wife Ardith of Satanta, Kansas; Steve Dunn of Fernley, Nevade; and Dave Dunn and wife Trish of Strasburg, Colorado; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and brother Bobby Archer and wife Wanda of Eastland, Texas

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean and Naomi Archer; and brother, Kenneth Archer.

Graveside services will be held at Brumfield Cemetery in Seiling, Oklahoma. The service date and time will be announced by the family when available. Memorials in Oma Jean’s memory may to made to Friends University, Wichita, KS, C/O Redinger Funeral Home P.O. Box 236, Seiling, OK 73663
