Obituary

Romona Rae (Parker) White was born on December 7, 1938, in Sayre, Oklahoma, to Curtis Buford Parker and Juanita D. (Clark) Parker. She passed away on August 5, 2026, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma.

Romona graduated from Sayre Public Schools in 1957. She later earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Marketing from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

Romona married Charles Ray Mayfield on August 4th, 1958, where they made their home in Mooreland, Oklahoma. Together this union welcomed three children: Cassandra Leslie, BrentonCharles, and Curtis Hance Mayfield. Romona later returned to Sayre, where she worked as the public relations director for Northfork Electric Cooperative. 

She met the love of her life, Virgel Edgar White; they were united in marriage on October 1st, 1984 in Wellington,Texas.

Together, Romona and Virgel built their home in Berlin, Oklahoma,where they shared a love foranimals, flowers and the outdoors. Their home became a place where family gathered, memories were made and everyone felt welcome.

To her grandchildren, she was simply "Nana." She created a lifetime of treasured memories through summer visits filled with horseback riding, painting, fishing, greyhound races, and enjoying the beauty of God's creation. 

Romona found joy in life’s simple blessings. She cherished her beautiful roses, her devoted dogs, and above all, her beloved horse, Hershey.

Painting was Romona's greatest passion. She loved creating beautiful artwork from their travels, and found even greater joy teaching her grandchildren to paint. She shared her creativity, patience and love with those around her. Every painting holds a story or memory that she loved to share.

She was preceded in death by her father, Curtis Buford Parker; her mother, Juanita D.Parker; her husband, Virgel Edgar White; her brother, Johnny Dale Parker and her daughter, Cassandra Leslie Mayfield.

She is survived by her sons, Brenton Charles Mayfield and wife, Michelle, of Mutual, and Curtis Hance Mayfield and wife, Kathy, of Guthrie; her grandchildren, Krysten Danielle Bryer and husband, Anthony, of Taloga, and Brooke Ashley Annuschat and husband, Doug, of Loyal; Justin Lee Relyea and wife, Tiffany, of Guthrie; and Kylie Mayfield, of Guthrie; her great-grandchildren, Taden Ray, Parker Charles, and Quinn Alene Bryer, Addysen Michelle and Presley Leanne Squires, Amethyst, Mylee, Emmalee, Liberty, Richard, and, Iris Relyea; and many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

Romona will be remembered for her gentle spirit, creative heart, unwavering love for her family,and the warmth she shared with everyone she met. Her legacy will live on through the memories she created, the lessons she taught, and the love she gave so freely.
