Ada (Miller) Fuqua, daughter of Charles Franklin and Ella (Blumer) Miller was born in a log cabin at the end of a huge snow storm on December 21, 1918.  She departed this life on September 24, 2017.

Ada was raised in the Lenora-Cestos community where she was born. Her elementary school years were spent at the Riley schoolhouse that was the center of community life.  She walked with her sisters and brothers two miles to the school and back each day.  After finishing the eighth grade, she attended high school at Richmond and only had to walk a mile and a half to catch the bus, then ride an additional twenty minutes to the school.  She graduated from high school in 1935.

On December 16, 1937, she and Ross Leonard Fuqua were married by the Methodist minister at the minister's house in Arapaho, Oklahoma. His wife witnessed their ceremony, and the minister and his wife sent them with their blessings on their way to their honeymoon by the Gulf of Mexico.

They returned from their honeymoon to reside on the 160 acre farm Ross has recently purchased. Ada continued to live on this farm until the first of November, 2009.  At this time, she moved to St. Ann's retirement home in Oklahoma City where she was very content until her death.

Ada enjoyed taking care of her home and family.  She loved to work in the soil and her garden was her pride and joy.

She was a member of the Home Betterment Club for many years and always enjoyed the fellowship and working with her neighbors in the club.  In 1966, she was the Dewey County Homemaker of the Year.

Ross and Ada joined the Methodist Church early in their marriage and became long active members of the church.  Ada served for many years in the Children's Department and the two week vacation bible school that was held each year, hopefully before harvest.  Ada was also an active member of the United Methodist Women, where one of her many activities was cooking for the Lion's Club once a month.

Ada was also an active member of the Dewey County Historical Society, where she served as treasurer for many years and in 2006 was inducted into the Dewey County Hall of Fame.

She is survived by her daughter, Jan and husband Harold Green, granddaughter, Cheryl and husband Cody Boswell, and grandson Jeff Green. She also has three great-grandchildren Claire Boswell, Bryson Green, and Brooklyn Green, all of Oklahoma City.  She is also survived by her sister, "Teddy" Theta Miller.

Ada was preceded in death by her husband Ross, son Dennis, her parents, her sisters Peggy Fuqua and Reka Terrel, and three brothers Grof, Kenneth, and Delbert Miller.
