Dr. Amadeo Gonzales Atendido, of Seiling passed from this life on January 29, 2018 in Okeene, OK at the age of 85 years, 7 months, and 17 days.  He was born on June 12, 1932 in San Leonardo, Philippines to Jose and Vincenta (Gonzales) Atendido.  He grew up in Manila, Philippines where he attended school.  He graduated from the University of Santo Tomas on March 24, 1957 with his Medical Doctorate with a specialty in General Surgery.  Amadeo then moved to the United States to begin his internship and residency in New York.  It was here that he met Amy Knowles (Harrington) and the two were married on March 21, 1958 in East Aurora, NY.  To this union eight children Lee, Kim, Peggy, Amy, Helen, Todd, Sean, and Kenneth were born.  The couple made their home in Buffalo and Hamburg, NY where Amadeo operated his medical practice for 23 years.  He then moved to Seiling in 1981, and practiced in the Seiling, Thomas, and Okeene areas for 33 years until his retirement in 2014 at the age of 82 with over 56 years as a surgeon.  In his spare time, he enjoyed golf, Mahjong, and many other types of games.  Amadeo also enjoyed spending time with his family, whether it was watching movies and listening to music or hosting cookouts where he could share his cooking skills.

Dr. Amadeo Atendido is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Vincenta, two sisters, and a son, Todd Atendido.

He is survived by his children Lee Atendido and wife Marisa of East Aurora, NY, Kim Hedges and husband Jim of Seiling, Peggy Anderson of Edmond, OK, Amy Walsh and husband Brian of Bothell, WA, Helen Sander and husband Kyle of Seiling, Sean Atendido and wife Heather of Keller, TX, and Kenneth Atendido of Euless, TX, daughter in law Shawn Atendido of Edmond, OK, a sister, Lining, a brother Donde both of the Philippines, twenty-two grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Services for Dr. Amadeo Atendido will be held at 2:00 PM on FRIDAY, February 2, 2018 at the First Christian Church of Seiling with Pastors Dennis Adair and Michael Brien officiating.  Burial will follow at the Brumfield Cemetery.

Memorial Donations in Dr. Atendido's honor may be made to the Area Medical Foundation or the Okeene Hospital Foundation with Redinger Funeral Home (Box 236 Seiling, OK 73663) serving as custodian of the funds.
