Artie Mae
(Russell) Shuck
November 7, 1943 – April 30, 2024
Artie Mae (Russell) Shuck was born on November 7, 1943, in Gracemont, OK to William Harvey Russell and Maymie Etta Shook. Artie lived on the family farm east of Gracemont until the second grade when the family moved to Waynoka, OK. In her teens, Artie enjoyed going out with her friends to the dunes and going to the dances every Saturday night to listen to live music.
It was at those dances that she met Roger Shuck who was the lead singer of the band. Artie and Roger were married on March 30, 1962.
Artie and Roger moved around a lot for work until they settled in Seiling, OK to raise their family. They were the proud parents of four sons, Chris, Rick, Chuck, and Robin.
In 1991, Roger passed away from medical complications. Artie was employed by Duke Energy and served as the office administrator for many years. She was a dedicated and loyal employee and was highly respected by her peers. She retired in 2009 after many years of dedicated service.
In the year 2000, Artie married Larry Daughtery on August 25th. Artie and Larry were married for 20 years until Larry's passing in 2020. They enjoyed adventures together such as traveling, going to rodeos, and enjoying each other's company,
Artie loved serving her community throughout the years. She was a member of the Toastmasters and The Music Lovers Club. She also served with the CETUS Program which is part of the Student Exchange Program. She participated in Cancer rides in support of Cancer Research. She also volunteered at the thrift store and the senior center. She greatly enjoyed going to "coffee with the girls".
Artie was a dedicated member of the First Christian Church in Seiling, she participated in the church choir and helped with many other church activities.
Artie is survived her by her children: Chris and Amy Shuck, Rick and Colleen Shuck, Chuck Shuck, and Robin and Jeanee Shuck. Other who will miss Artie's presence in their lives are her grandchildren: Ashley, Garon, Paige, Joleen, Justina, Julie, Claycee, Morgan, Brody, Kaylee, Madison, and Veronica. There are 11 great-grandchildren who will cherish her memory. She is also survived by her sister, Joy Faye Jensen.
Artie is preceded in death by her husband Roger Shuck, her husband Larry Daughtery, her parents Harvey and Maymie, her brothers Dwayne and Billy, and her sisters Rowena, and Melva. She is also preceded in death by her grandson Ethan Shuck and great-granddaughter Abigail Mae Fitzgerald.
Artie will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends. Her smiling face and joyful spirit will live on in our memories. Her charming personality will be remembered by all who were fortunate to meet her. May her soul rest in peace.
