During this time, he was also employed at the Woods County Sheriff's Office. Following college graduation, he attended the Academy for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. He graduated and received Badge # 763. He was stationed in Boise City, OK, and worked for the OHP for several years. He then moved to Norman, OK where he lived while making applications to law school. He attended OCU law school briefly. During this time, he received word that his father had passed away. Ben and his family moved back to the ranch and built a home there.

Three of them attended the Vici Public School which was located one block from their home. Ben was frequently seen driving through town in his truck with his dog in the back. He also loved going to the shooting range with his son, Michael. Deer hunting was another favorite pastime when they lived at the ranch.
Ben had one older sister, Nellie Stambaugh, who is deceased. He is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Ben was the proud grandpa to seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Ben will be missed by those who loved him.
