Billy Joe Dale began his earthly walk on July 9, 1948, in Princeton, Texas, when his parents, Nelson H. and Annie (Lorrance) Dale welcomed him into this world. Billy attended the Thackerville School and graduated with the class of 1967. He then attended the Cooke County Junior College.
In May of 1969, Billy began his service to our country by servicing in the U.S. Army. Billy served until 1971, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant and was awarded the Bronze Star. He also received the Army Commendation Medal – First Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the National Defense Medal.
After his military service, Billy ran a service station in Gainesville, TX. He then began working in the oilfield industry throughout Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas.
On June 5, 1981, Billy was united in marriage to Mary Sue Roper in Oakwood, Oklahoma. The newly married couple made their home in Oakwood, where they raised their family.
Billy was a member of the Grace Assembly of God Church in Weatherford, OK.
Billy retired from the oilfield in 2009. His greatest hobbies were being with family and especially playing with his grandkids. He was a member of the Woodward VFW Post 1335.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Annie Dale, one son Paul Wade Dale, brothers, Nelson Dale, Jr, Johnny Dale, and Bobby Dale, and sisters Sybil Stallings, Irene Buckaloo, and Alma Rosenstrom.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Sue of Oakwood, children William Stuart Dale and spouse Michael of Sioux Falls, SD, Jaimie Diane Hightower and husband Kyle of Kingfisher, OK, and Jennifer Janette Baker and husband Andy of Weatherford, OK. Billy is also survived by brother Don Dale. His beloved grandchildren: Tyler and Ivy Boden, Kade and Macy Hajny, Brody Boden, Jayde Hightower, Cayde Hightower. Great Grandchildren Ila and Izzy Boden, and great-granddaughter on the way, Zoey Hajny.
Billy will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the Oakwood Auditorium. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorials in Billy's honor may be made to the Oklahoma Children's Hospital – Jimmy Everest Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases in Children in care of Redinger Funeral Home (Box 236, Seiling, OK 73663)
