Cecil Ray Kughn began his walk on this earth on July 16, 1945 when he was born to parents Ray and Thelma Gillman Kughn in Crescent, Oklahoma. He departed this world on June 1, 2021 at the age of 75 years, 10 months, and 16 days. Cecil was one of six children. The family made their home in Kingfisher, Oklahoma where Cecil attended Geen Gilmour grade school and Kingfisher High School until graduation. He then attended 2 years at Northern Oklahoma College at Tonkawa, Oklahoma.
From October 7, 1965 to March 1, 1967 , Cecil was an airborne ranger with the 173 rd Airborne Brigade attaining the rank of Specialist 5. During his time in the service, Cecil was awarded several honors including The National Defense Service Metal, Vietnam Service Metal, Vietnamese Campaign Metal with Device, 2 overseas service bars, the Parachute Badge, and The Combat Infantry Badge.
On November 27, 1970, Cecil was united in marriage to Ruby Lee Sneed in Kingfisher, Ok. This couple was blessed with 3 children Jason Cecil Ray Jr., Mark Bradley, and Tiffany Renae. The family lived in Kingfisher until 1980 when they moved to Seiling, Oklahoma. They spent the next 20 years in Seiling before moving to Woodward, Ok in 2000, then moving back to Seiling in 2020.
Cecil was employed as a plant operator for Phillips 66 for 27 years.
Cecil enjoyed woodworking, trying his hand at the stock market, and listening to oldies music.
In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by his sister Nola Ryan, sister Rita Owen, brother Robert Kughn, and sister Wilina Bowden. He is survived by his loving wife Ruby of Seiling, son Jason and wife Candi of Seiling, son Mark and wife Ashley of Woodward, daughter Tiffany Secrest and husband John of Seiling, and sister Wilma Vaughn of Kingfisher, Ok. Also left to cherish the memories are 6 grandsons and 6 granddaughters, nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 7, 2021 at the Redinger Funeral Home Chapel in Seiling, OK.
