Obituary

Charles Eugene Hansen was born July 17,1932 in Dassel, Minnesota to Clarence Marlow and Gladys Marie (Nordine) Hansen.  Chuck, as he was affectionately known to family and friends, passed from this earthly life to his heavenly reward on  June 26, 2021 at the age of 88 years 11 months and  9  days.  Charles was baptized at West Amarillo Christian Church in Amarillo, Texas and believed in and loved the Lord with all his heart.

As a kid, Chuck liked to ride his bike to the lake and fish, catch frogs for an uncle which earned him a couple of dollars, and would use his .22 rifle to shoot gophers along the road to earn points for their tails for the Sportsmen's Club.  Chuck graduated from Dassel Minnesota High School in 1950.  A few of the activities he was involved with were playing the Clarinet and Oboe in the school band, he was a member of the Sportsmen's and Photography Clubs.

He worked several jobs during and after high school including pitching peas in Wala Wala, Washington, working at the Painesville Creamery, and at the Cokato Green Giant Company canning corn.  He attended the Minnesota Business College in 1951.

Chuck enlisted in the United States Air Force on September 17, 1952, during the Korean War.  After Basic training he was assigned to the Amarillo Air force Base and worked in the Payroll Department paying the pilots as they flew their B-29 Bombers into Amarillo for refueling and repairs.  During this time, he was introduced to his future bride, JoAnne Baker.  They were married on June 2, 1956, in Waynoka, Oklahoma.  Chuck was honorably discharged on September 16, 1956 with the rank of Staff Sergeant Airman 1 st Class.

After his service time, some of his many places of employment were bookkeeper at Milaca Underwear Company in Minnesota, Gunn Brothers Stamps computer systems analyst in Amarillo, Texas, and the State of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City.  Thankfully due to the GI Bill, he attended Amarillo College, Canyon West Texas State College, and was a graduate of Central State University in Edmond, now known as University of Central Oklahoma.

Three children were born to Chuck and JoAnne: Kimette Kolene, Greggory Kent, and Randall Mark.

Some of the things he enjoyed with his family and friends were fishing, game playing of cards, dice, dominoes, and Scrabble and the like …… and he rarely lost.  He also had a gentle spirit and willingness to help anyone he could at any time.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Gladys Hansen, and a sister Betty George.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, JoAnne Hansen, of the home, his 3 children: Kim (Monte) Goyen of Seiling, Oklahoma, Gregg Hansen of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Randy (Tammy) Hansen of San Antonio, Texas, 7 grandchildren, Jason (Claudia) Damron of San Diego, California, Rachel Damron of McKinney, Texas, Heather (Tim) Griffin of Taloga, Oklahoma and Thomas (Coatney) Goyen of Kremlin, Oklahoma, Taylor (Kyle)Hansen Rasmussen of Italy, Chandler Hansen of Temple, Texas and Hunter Hansen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Also left to cherish his memory are 8 great-grandchildren, Donovan Damron, Kadence Griffin, Keira Griffin, Cooper Goyen, Lincoln Goyen, Jackson Goyen, Faith Rasmussen and Anna Rasmussen, several nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Husband, Daddy, and Pawpaw Chuck was dearly loved by his family and many friends and will be greatly missed, but as his wife says he will be waiting at the pearly gates for each of us to arrive.
