Charles Andrew "Charlie" Barnes was born on November 24, 1937 to parents Willie H. and Emily (Chunn) Barnes in Pampa, Texas.  He departed his earthly home of Colby, Kansas on May 11, 2021 at the age of 83 years, 5 months, and 17 days.

Charlie attended school in Lefors, Texas graduating with the Class of 1957.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962 attaining the rank of Specialist-5.  Following his service in the army, Charlie attended Technician College.  He became Instrument Technician for Phillips Oil Company.

In 1961, Charlie was united in marriage to Ann Shuping in Fritch, Texas.  This union was blessed with 2 children, Charles (Drew) and Rebecca.  In 1974, Charlie and Betty Long were united in marriage.

Charlie and his family lived in Fritch, Texas until 1984 when his job transferred him to Seiling, Oklahoma.

Charlie came to love the lord at a young age, and was baptized by his father. In later years, he was active in church by teaching bible studies, serving as Deacon, and as a Sunday School teacher.

Charlie enjoyed building model airplanes and ships, and teaching the word of our Lord.

Charlie is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Barnes, his parents; Willie and Emily Barnes, and brother; William Barnes, and two step children, Bryson Long and Kristi Gerner.  He is survived by his children, Drew Barnes and wife Julie of Colby, Kansas, and Rebecca Severn of Seiling, Oklahoma. Also left to share his memories is brother Otis Barnes and wife Sherry of Pensacola, Florida, 5 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces and 3 nephews, numerous relatives and a host of friends.

Graveside Services for Charlie will be held Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Brumfield Cemetery in Seiling, Oklahoma under the direction of Redinger Funeral Home.
