Courtney Nichole Van Buren, 32, of Chester, joined the angels in heaven on April 11, 2020 in Oklahoma City after a brief illness. Courtney was born to Terry Thompson and Chris (Ray) Ake on September 24, 1987 in Spring, TX. With her mom in the Army, Courtney moved several times before coming to her grandmother's hometown of Seiling. She also considered Ella Bea and Alvin McGee her family, as they cared for her while her mom was deployed. Courtney graduated from Seiling High School with the Class of 2006, and worked at the Seiling Nursing Center as a Dietitian's Aide.
Courtney liked reading and dancing. She attended Elm Grove Community Church from a young age. Courtney was a family woman and loved spending time with them, whether hanging out with her sister Kjelcea, cruising with her love, Trevor Goodwin, or reading to their two young daughters, Kaidance and Harmony Goodwin.
Courtney was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Joe Price, and Rubin Ray
Left to carry her legacy are her parents, Chris Ake and husband Floyd of Chester, OK and Terry Thompson of Rayville, LA; fiance Trevor Goodwin of Seiling, OK; daughters Kaidance and Harmony Goodwin; brothers Montrell, Michael, Clayton, and Brandyn Thompson, all of Louisiana; sister Kjelcea McDonald and husband Jordan of Taloga, OK; grandparents Annie Mae Thompson and B.B. Thompson, grandmother Connie Smith and husband J.L. of Chester, OK; uncles Tim Ray and wife Kayle, Thomas Ray, and Ben Fisher and wife Amanda; nieces and nephews Amiyree, Zavrian, and Kyren McDonald; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held at the Chester Cemetery on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 2:00 P.M.
Memorial Donations may be made to the Goodwin Girl's Fund at Seiling State Bank with Redinger Funeral Home (Box 236, Seiling, OK 73663) serving as custodian of the funds.
