Obituary

Darla Ann Chain was born March 13,1935, to Les and Hazel England in Seiling, Oklahoma, and passed away February 28th, 2024.

Darla attended and graduated from Seiling High School where she was active in the band as student conductor and majorette, pep club, theater, and numerous clubs and student activities.

Darla met a local ranch boy, Ralph Chain, fell in love, and they were married shortly after her graduation. Ralph and Darla were married on May 17, 1953, in Seiling, Oklahoma and remained married for the next 65 years until Ralph's death.

After their marriage they moved to the family ranch where they began their life and family. Darla took on the role of a modern-day ranch wife and supported Ralph with the ranch while raising her two children Andrea and Monte. The family faithfully attended the Church of Christ, where Darla served and taught Sunday school class.  She was an avid Bible reader.  Her prayer life could arguably be the backbone of the family's strength.

She was gifted at curating beautiful, aesthetic spaces in her home that only a real artist's eye could achieve. She would muse that as a girl, she would often sketch fashionable women's clothing, and she had dreams of living as an artist in Greenwich Village in New York City. Though she never lived in NYC, she did travel the world with her beloved husband.

Darla loved sunrises and sunsets, riding the ranch with Ralph, and scouring the pastures for artifacts and treasures.  She loved the land and her family. Going to "Mimi's" was always a treat as Darla loved to pamper and nurture her grandkids who were always about the house and under foot. She loved to play along whether it was playing "Beauty Shop" or "Church".  Darla was loving and fun.  She loved spending her free time cooking, drawing and reading.  She never hesitated to help someone in need, whether a member of her church, a friend or stranger. She loved well and supported her family unconditionally.

In addition to her parents, Darla is preceded in death by her husband Ralph; and brother Richard England.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two children Andy and husband Brad, Monte and wife Dianna, grandchildren Newley Hutchison and wife Mandy, Kasse Duffy, Lenne Mahan and husband Matt, Morey Hutchison, Kelly Chain and wife Amber, Kimberly Mahan and husband Paul, great grandchildren, Brock and Newt Hutchison, Trystin and Olivia Duffy, Malachi, Esther, Charlie, and John Mahan, Kade and Mattie Hutchison, Blake and Baylee Chain, Brothers, Gary and wife Mary England and Phil and wife Susan England; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 4, 2024 at the Elm Grove Community Church in Chester, OK.  Burial will follow at the Chain Family Cemetery.
