Dorothy Louise
(Hoffman) Campbell
August 3, 1941 – July 22, 2024
Dorothy Louise (Hoffman) Campbell was born on August 3, 1941 in Canton, Oklahoma to Ed and Mollie (Leis) Hoffman. She departed this life on July 22, 2024 at the age of 82 years, 11 months, and 19 days. She was the eighth of nine children. Dorothy grew up in Canton, graduating with the Class of 1959.
On July 10, 1958, she was united in marriage to James Edward Campbell to whom she was married for 62 years. They moved to Cheyenne Valley in 1959 where James began a farming operation. While there, the couples only child, Steve was born. In 1967, she enrolled at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Language Arts. This led to her first teaching job at Aline-Cleo School where she taught for three years. She earned her Master's Degree in 1977. Dorothy then taught at Fairview Public Schools for four years before moving to Seiling. She taught at Seiling Public Schools for 16 years, retiring in 1997.
In 1986, she was runner-up for State Teacher of the Year. Dorothy was a member of the Major County OREA. She was a member of the Orion Baptist Church since 1971 where she taught Sunday School and helped with Bible School for many years.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband James in 2020; and seven siblings, Edward Hoffman, Arlene Derrick, Leroy Hoffman, Wayne Hoffman, Doyle Hoffman, Louella Tucker, and Lavina Maddux.
Left to carry on are her son Steve and wife Julie of Chester, OK; granddaughters Kellie Kinsey and husband Kyle of Woodward, OK, Kendra Campbell of Chester; great grandsons Braxton and Ryker of Woodward; brother, W. Larry Hoffman, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at the Orion Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Orion Cemetery.
