Edna Mae Whitney was born on February 9, 1947 in Mooreland, Oklahoma to parents Ivan and Vada (Link) Hawkins. She passed from this life at her home in Oklahoma City, OK on June 27, 2021 at the age of 74 years, 4 months, and 18 days. Edna and her sister Ramona were raised on the family farm between Seiling and Chester. Edna attended the Seiling School and graduated with the class of 1965.
Edna was an industrious worker having jobs at Brownies Café as a waitress, England's Grocery as a cashier, Jaquiths Gift Shop as a sales clerk, and lastly as a cashier at Tinker Air Force Base.
On May 18, 1998, Edna was united in marriage to Jerry Whitney and they made their home in Oklahoma City, OK.
Edna was blessed with four children, sons: Jerry Wayne, Jason, and Justin, and daughter Jamie. She was very blessed to be called Grandma by ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She proudly attended all of the games and the performances that her grandchildren participated in.
Edna was an Oklahoma City Thunder basketball fan and enjoyed OU sports teams especially football, basketball, and softball. Edna and Jerry enjoyed watching TV together and when they were able, enjoyed traveling together. Edna loved her vegetable garden and her lovely flower garden. She enjoyed making lovely flower arrangements to brighten her home.
Edna is preceded in death by her parents Ivan and Vada, and many aunts and uncles. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Jerry of the home, son Jerry Wayne Whitney Jr. and wife Dena of Yukon, OK, son Jason Whitney and wife Maria of Mustang, OK, son Justin Whitney and wife Joni of Yukon, OK, and daughter Jamie Whitman and husband Kevin of Mustang, OK, her sister Ramona Riley and husband Charlie of Brenham, TX. Other relatives that were touched by her life are nephews Charles Riley, Jr. and wife Cyndi of Brenham, TX, Rev. Sheldon Riley and wife Sarah of Midland, TX, Travis Riley and wife Nancy of Woodward, OK, and many other nieces, nephews, aunts, relatives and a host of friends.
Edna was a special lady and touched many lives with her kindness.
