Elvin Meigs, 93, of Mutual, OK, died on March 13, 2015, in Seiling, OK. Elvin was born on February 26, 1922, on the family farm three miles east of Richmond, OK. He was the youngest of four children to Clarence and Grace (Linden) Meigs. Elvin was raised on this farm attending Richmond School, graduating with the class of 1939. After high school, Elvin continued his education at Northwestern State College in Alva, OK. He transferred to Oklahoma State University in Stillwater before enlisting in the United States Army. He served three and half years, the last year of which was spent in Germany in the 71st Army Division which was part of General Patton's 3rd Army. In April of 1946, Elvin was transferred to Camp Chaffee in Arkansas before being honorably discharged.

Elvin returned home and joined his father in the farming operation. He began working to get his new wife Isabella Einberger to this country from her home in Bavaria, Germany. In June of 1948, his wife joined him on the farm. The couple lived with Elvin's parents for a few months and then built a new home in Seiling, OK, where they lived until 1955. During this time Elvin worked on the farm and in Taloga for Eddie Collier's law office doing income tax work. He also worked at Dewey Abstract Company and at the Dewey County Treasurer's office. They were blessed with three children, Bob, Linda and Donna. In 1969, they moved back to the family farm where he was born and built the home in which they have lived since that time. During all these years Elvin continued farming and raising cattle, an occupation that he enjoyed very much.

Elvin is preceded in death by his parents Clarence W. and Grace Meigs, brother Eldon Meigs, sisters Evelyn Robertson and Edna Gammon.

He is survived by his wife Bella of the home; son Bob Meigs and wife Lynn of Seiling; daughters Linda Nelson and husband Bud and Donna Holt and husband Eddie, all of Cordell, OK; seven grandchildren Tammy Raffkind of Frisco, TX, Alan Meigs of Yukon, OK, Karl Meigs of Weatherford, OK, Tanner Holt of Cordell, OK, Colten Holt of Cordell, OK, Brent Nelson of Edmond, OK, and Jerrod Nelson of Frisco, TX; six great-grandchildren, Logan Raffkind, Presley and Kassidy Nelson, Tenley Nelson, Lizben Meigs and Haylee Holt.
