Obituary

Everett Melvin Stotts, of Chester, was born on August 24, 1931 to Fred and Myrtle (Curry) Stotts in Seiling, OK.  He passed from this life on April 8, 2020 at the age of 88 years, 7 months, and 15 days.

Everett was raised on the farm north of Seiling, where he attended school, graduating Seiling High School.  He then attended Oklahoma A + M in Stillwater.  Everett was inducted to the Army on October 23, 1952, and rose to the rank of Corporal before he was honorably discharged.  On February 17, 1956, he married Ruth Ann (Cline) and to this union four children were born: Coweta, LeRoy, Monte, and Evelyn.  Everett owned and operated Stotts Feed and Seed in Chester, as well as serving as the police officer for the Town of Seiling, and taking care of his own farm and ranch.  He was a founding member of the Seiling Rural Fire Association, a member of the American Legion, the Seiling School Board, and an elder at the First Christian Church of Seiling.  In his spare time, Everett loved to farm, haul cattle, and did custom hay work.  His greatest joy however, was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Fred and Myrtle, Everett is preceded in death by his siblings, Irene Wallace, Lucille Stotts, Harold Stotts, Nina Riggins, and Opal Carver.

Left to carry on his legacy are his wife of 64 years, Ruth Ann Stotts; four children, Coweta Donnell and husband Jeff, LeRoy Stotts and wife Tammy, Monte Stotts and wife Sherry, and Evelyn McAleney and husband Jack; nine grandchildren, Jeremy Donnel and wife Wendy, Kyli Hibbard and husband Mason, Claci Dowdy and husband Josh, Ryan, Dillon, Taylor, Caitlyn, and Kenzie Stotts, and Jessica Lamle and husband Kade; one great grandchild, Taw Hibbard; two sisters, Treva Smith and June Wilson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

As recommended by our state membership, Everett's funeral service will be limited to immediate family.  You will be able to watch a stream of the service on our facebook page Shaw and Redinger Funeral Homes or First Christian Church Seiling, Oklahoma .  You can also sign the guestbook on our website at shawfuneralhome.net

The services will go live shortly before 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 11, 2020 from the First Christian Church in Seiling.

Burial will follow the service at Brumfield Cemetery.

Memorial Donations in Everett's honor may be made to the Seiling Nursing Center (Building Fund) with Redinger Funeral Home (Box 236, Seiling, OK 73663) serving as custodian of the funds.
