Floyd Eldon Ake, born September 8, 1946, in Orion, Oklahoma, to Ernest Ake and Ethel Evelyn Jenkins, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Floyd spent his early years in Orion before moving to Fairview at age 15, and later to Enid, Oklahoma, at 16.
In September 1964, he married Lillian Baldwin in Montrose, Colorado. Together, they raised three children: Angela Jean, Clint Eldon, and Melony Elaine Ake. On August 19, 2017, Floyd found love again and married Chris (Ray), and raised two more children, Courtney Nichole, and Kjelcea Marie.
Floyd dedicated his working life as a lineman and in the oilfields across Colorado, Missouri, and Oklahoma. He was known for his strong work ethic and passion for his craft. In his free time, Floyd enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his beloved bird dogs. He was an active member of the Elm Grove Community Church, where he found community and fellowship.
Floyd is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Darlene Ake; brothers, Wilbur, Larry, and Alfred Ake; his first wife, Lillian Ake, and daughter Courtney VanBuren. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories in the hearts of his family and friends.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife, Chris Ake; his sister, Norma Davis of Enid; his children, Angela Snyder and husband Ronnie of Woodward, OK, Clint Ake and wife Chandra of Chester, OK, Melony Ake of Seiling, and Kjelcea McDonald and husband Jordan; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends who will miss him dearly.
A celebration of Floyd's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 14, 2024, at the Elm Grove Community Church. Burial will follow at Orion Cemetery. The family welcomes all who knew him to join them in honoring his memory.
