Bud was a devoted husband and was married to Clara for 65 years and 3 months. Bud loved to
be outdoors and was well known as a big game hunter and gun enthusiast. He was a lifetime
member of the NRA. In his early years of marriage, he worked as a carpenter, worked at
Safeway food stores, and Coca-Cola Bottling. He and Clara settled in the Coldwater/Wilmore,
KS area in 1967 and in 1974 they opened The Little Brave Drive-In with a trailer park and peach
orchard, in Coldwater, KS. A couple of years later he built the first convenience store in
Comanche County, C&B Short Shop and a year after that he built an automated car wash across
the highway.
Bud and Clara worked hard, and they were able to retire in 1996, in their mid-fifties, and spent
their retirement years in the Gulf of Mexico near Corpus Christi, Texas.
They enjoyed deep sea fishing and the wonderful sunshine and warm weather.
Bud loved his kids, and he would do anything for them. He was a really good grandpa and he
loved the grandchildren and great grandchildren very, very much.
He was known by family and friends as a character, making them smile and laugh as much as
possible.
Bud passed away peacefully on October 12th, 2021, after a battle with Alzheimer's dementia.
He will be greatly missed, but we know he is now happy in heaven with Jesus enjoying his
brand new body.
