Gordon Ray Tipton was born on August 9, 1951, to parents Paris Lester and Gladys Marie Foster Tipton in Johnson City, Tennessee. He left this earth on January 21, 2025, at the age of 73.
Gordon Ray grew up in the Johnson City area attending Stratton Elementary School, South Jr. High School, and Science Hill High School. After graduating from High School, he first made his home in Johnson City, then moved around to Kingsport, Tennessee, and short stays in Montana and Arizona before settling in Seiling, Oklahoma.
Gordon Ray was brought up in the Baptist church and this upbringing stayed with him through his life.
Gordon Ray was a truck driver going cross country, and for the last 22 years he has been a truck driver for a Kansas dairy. This was a profession that Gordon Ray truly loved.
Gordon Ray was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, and he loved all types of cars. He delighted in sharing his knowledge of both with his family and friends.
Gordon Ray was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, sister Susan Hawkins-Mick, and numerous aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his nephew, Aaron Hawkins of Johnson City, Tennessee, great-nephew Kaden Hawkins also of Johnson City, niece Brittany Hawkins of Piney Flats, Tennessee, and brother-in-law Bruce Mick of Elizabethton, Tennessee. There are a host of cousins and friends who will cherish the memories that they shared with Gordon.
