Gynith Charlene (Winters) Hurt went to her heavenly home on December 23, 2021, at the age of 85 years, 1 month, and 26 days. Her earthly journey began on October 28, 1936, when her parents, Fred and Susie (Gleason) Winters welcomed their new baby girl into this world.  The family made their home in the Chester, Oklahoma area.  Gynith attended the Seiling schools graduating with the Class of 1954.

On December 27, 1953, Gynith was united in marriage to Jerry Lee Hurt, in Woodward, OK.  The new couple first made their home in the Chester area before moving to Bethany, OK in 1956.  Gynith and Jerry were the proud parents of three children, Sheila, Gynith "Lynn", and Terry.

In 1974, the family moved back to the Chester area where they happily called home for the remainder of their lives.

Gynith was proud to be called a homemaker, and she also operated the Chester Coffee Shop.  She very much enjoyed gardening and fishing, but her greatest joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gynith was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lee Hurt, her parents; Fred and Susie Winters, and her daughters; Sheila Abbott  and Gynith "Lynn" Dupus.

She is survived by her son Terry Hurt and wife Regina of Chester, OK, sister-in-law Lynda "Janey" Hurt of Seiling, OK,  son-in-law DeWitt Abbott of Seiling, OK, and uncle Wayne Winters of Fresno, CA.  Also nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren will treasure her memory along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the Elm Grove Community Church in Chester, OK.  Burial will follow at Brumfield Cemetery in Seiling, OK.
