Obituary

Herbert Max Shuck was born on October 25, 1949, in Woodward, Oklahoma. He was welcomed by parents Milo Herbert "Happy" and Gladys Marie (Ezell) Shuck.  Herb attended school at Richmond and Mutual from 1 st through 4 th grade, Chester from 5 th through 8 th grade, and Seiling from 9 th grade until he graduated with the Class of 1967.

Herb began his service to our country in May 1968, with the United States Air Force. He married his high school sweetheart, Donna Marie Dvorak, on November 16, 1968, at the Dvorak home in Phroso, OK (Major County). Herb was stationed at George AFB in Victorville, CA, served one year in Thailand, and then was stationed at Holloman AFB in Alamogordo, NM, where they welcomed their first son, Jason. Herb proudly served and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-5) and received an honorable discharge in 1972.

In 1972, Herb was excited to take his family "home" to northwest Oklahoma. Herb and Donna lived at the Callie Woodring place for eight years where they welcomed their second son, Dustin. In 1980, they built their home with the help of family and friends on the family farm.

Following his military service, Herb worked for Major County grading county roads and worked with Doyle Hedrick Water Well Services. Then, he was employed as a pumper in the oil field for Singer-Fleischaker/Jolen Production for 22 years. In 1995, he was employed by Hamm & Phillips Service Company at the Seiling yard until his retirement in 2015.

Herb dearly loved his family, and that love was graciously returned. He appreciated the great outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing adventures with family and friends. He enjoyed hunting quail, turkey, and deer. He was a dedicated fisherman whether tube fishing for bass at ponds or drifting/trolling for walleye at Canton Lake. He enjoyed watching a good ballgame and enthusiastically supported his children and grandchildren as they played various sports. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.

Herb was a strong believer in Christ our Lord and Savior and bold in his conversations about his faith. He grew up attending Elm Grove Church. Together, Herb and Donna raised their family with the love and support of the Elm Grove Church community. Herb felt the love of God through nature and being outdoors. He often spoke about how amazing it was to see the sunrise and all the beauty that comes with a new day

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Donna Shuck. He had two sons: Jason and wife Kelly of Yukon, OK, and Dustin and wife Angela of Edmond, OK.  He had five grandchildren: Alex Smith and husband Aaron of Yukon, OK, Bailey Hazelbaker and husband Zachary of Yukon, OK, and Darcy, Koen, and Wrigley Shuck of Edmond, OK. He had three great-grandchildren: Charlie and Gideon Hazelbaker and Abram Smith. He is also survived by brother Derald Shuck and wife Elaine of Chester, OK, along with nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and loved ones. Herb was preceded in death by his parents Milo Herbert and Gladys Shuck, brother Logan Alexander Shuck, and infant brother Melville Otis Shuck.
