Obituary

It is with heavy heart that we announce the death of Lynda

J a ne y Hu r t o f C he s te r , O klahoma, who passed away on

Sunday, January 15, 2023, at the age of 84, leaving family and

friends to treasure her memory.

She was born on August 5, 1938, and is predeceased by her

parents, Charley Edward Hurt and Lille Mae (Louthan Hurt)

Jackson; her siblings, Margaret "Dody" (Hurt) Camp, Jerry Hurt

and John Hurt; her nieces, Sheila (Hurt) Abbott, Lynn (Hurt)

Dupus, and Susan Camp. She is survived by several nieces,

nephews, and cousins.

Janey was a war-time nurse serving in the United States Air

Force as a 1st Lieutenant, and was stationed at Clark AFB in the

Philippines, during the Vietnam War. After her Honorable

Discharge in 1968, she returned to Oklahoma to work as an O.R.

nurse in Enid. She later retired and returned to Chester, where

she was active in the Elm Grove Community Church and the

Seiling-Chester Senior Center; and enjoyed quilting, crocheting,

scrap-booking, and reading. Her remains will be interred at

Orion Cemetery, next to her father and sister.

The family would like to give special thanks and recognition to

the staff of the Clinton VA Center and Hospice for the care they

provided to Janey while she was in their care.
