Obituary

Janice Marie "Schmitz" Fenton was born on August 3, 1944, to Bernard and Dorothea (Bennett) Schmitz in Anthony, KS.  She was the third child and the oldest of a set of twins. Janice was six minutes older than her twin sister Joyce. Janice gained her angel wings on August 8, 2022, at the age of 78 years and 5 days.

The Schmitz family moved to Medford, Oklahoma while Janice was still an infant.  Her early years were spent in the Medford area where Janice attended 1 st and 2 nd grades at St. Mary's Catholic School.  The family then moved to the family farm in Wakita, OK, where Janice completed her education graduating with the Wakita class of 1962.

After graduation, Janice moved to Enid, OK, where she began her working career as a bookkeeper and window display designer for a local dress shop.  It was in Enid that Janice met the love of her life, Darrel Keith Fenton, on a blind date.  Five months later, on May 21, 1965, Darrel and Janice were united in marriage at his parents' home in Dewey County, Oklahoma.  The happy couple made their first home in Enid where Janice continued her job with the dress shop and Darrel worked as a mechanic.  When Darrel's father became ill, the couple moved to the family farm in Cestos, OK to take over the farming and milking operations.  This would become their family home. In 1975, they started their own business, Darrel's Refrigeration and Electric. Three daughters were born to the happy family, Kimberly Diann in 1966, Kari Donita in 1968,and Krista Dawn in 1977.

Janice was proud to be referred to as housewife and stay-at-home mom. She was also very helpful to Darrel with their business.  She was an active supporter of her girls and all of their activities during their school years.

Janice was actively involved with her community.  She was a member of the Help-One-Another-Club, a 4-H leader, a Dewey County Voter Registrar, and she also helped with the Richmond Alumni. Darrel and Janice enjoyed their retirement and greatly enjoyed their grandchildren and watching them in all their activities.

Darrel passed away on October 28, 2012, moving Janice from the family farm to the Baptist Village in Cleveland, OK. In 2019 she moved to Corn Heritage in Weatherford, OK where she lived out her remaining years. She was blessed with two great granddaughters over the last seven years that she loved to brag on, spoil and see as often as she could. Janice had a deep love for her Lord and Savior and was a member of the Vici Christian Church.

Janice was preceded in death by her beloved husband Darrel Fenton, her parents Bernard and Dorothea Schmitz, in-laws Ivan and Sylvia Fenton, her twin sister Joyce Worick and husband Richard, brother-in-law Jim Baker, sister-in-law Joan Schmitz, sister-in-law Alice Myers and husband Dallas, and four nephews Jim "Dusty" Moss, Robert "Bobby" Holley, Bill Myers, and Carl Worick.
