Remembering JoAnne

JoAnne Baker Miller Hansen, lovingly known as " Jody" to her family and close friends, passed away on August 6, 2025.  She was born on July 5, 1938, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Fred Baker and Dulcie Mae Miller Baker.  Tragically, JoAnne's mother, Dulcie Mae, passed away from Tuberculosis when JoAnne was just 18 months old.  After her mothers' death, JoAnne and her older sister Donna were raised by their uncle and aunt, OJ and Bernice Miller, in Waynoka, Oklahoma.

JoAnne graduated from Waynoka High School in 1956.  While visiting her adopted sister Betty Marshall in Amarillo, TX, she met the love of her life Charles Eugene Hansen (Chuck), through her sister Betty.  The couple fell in love quickly, but because JoAnne was 30 days shy of the legal age for marriage, she was officially adopted by OJ and Bernice Miller so they could wed.  JoAnne and Charles were married on June 2, 1956, at the Methodist Church in Waynoka, Oklahoma.

The newlyweds began their life together in Amarillo, where they had three children: Kimette (Kim) Kolene, Greggory (Gregg) Kent, and Randall (Randy) Mark.  In the summer of 1969, the family relocated to Oklahoma City when Chuck began working for the State of Oklahoma.

JoAnne worked from home typing envelopes for the Boys Ranch in Amarillo before moving to Oklahoma City.  After relocating, she worked as a cafeteria assistant at Hefner Jr. High and as a receptionist at an eye doctor's office.

JoAnne's true passions were being a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend, and living her life according to the teachings of the Bible.  She loved spending time outdoors, especially camping in Colorado with family and friends and going on family vacations to Minnesota, Chuck's home state.  JoAnne also enjoyed fishing, sewing, and making matching mother-daughter dresses for Easter.  Both Chuck and JoAnne also loved playing all sorts of card and board games, and they were avid OU fans.

JoAnne and Charles were faithful members of Christ's Church in Yukon, Oklahoma, for many years, and they cherished their time there until their health began to decline.

JoAnne was preceded in death by her beloved husband of almost 65 years, Charles; her parents, Dulcie Mae Baker, OJ and Bearnice Miller; her sister, Donna Lee; and he adopted siblings OJ Miller and Betty Ruth Chambers.

She is survived by her children: Kim (Monte) Goyen of Seiling, OK; Gregg Hansen of Yukon, OK; and Randy (Tammy) Hansen of San Antonio, TX.  "Naunee" also leaves behind seven grandchildren; Jason (Claudia) Damron of San Diego, CA; Rachel Damron of McKinney, TX; Heather (Tim) Griffin of Seiling, OK; Thomas Goyen of Enid, OK; Taylor (Kyle) Rasmussen of Las Vegas, NV; Chandler Hansen of Temple, TX; and Hunter (Hannah) Hansen of Oklahoma City, OK.  JoAnne was the proud great-grandmother of ten great-grandchildren: Donovan Damron, Kadence Griffin, Keira Griffin, Cooper Goyen, Lincoln Goyen, Jackson Goyen, Faith Rasmussen, Anna Rasmussen, Jack Rasmussen, and Claire Rasmussen.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other family members and dear friends.

JoAnne's life was a testament of love, faith, and devotion to family.  She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew her.
