Fuqua
October 4, 1940 – November 18, 2020
On Wednesday, November 18, 2020, Lyle Wayne Fuqua, loving husband and father of three, went to be with the Lord at the age of 80, at his home, surrounded by his wife and children.
Lyle Wayne Fuqua was born on October 4 th , 1940 to Dee Floyd Fuqua and Leota Ruth (Newell) Fuqua on the farm Southwest of Seiling, OK. At age 6, Lyle moved with his family to Longview, WA, where he attended school. He was a member of the Lutheran Church in Washington, where he was baptized. Lyle joined the United States Navy in 1958 and served aboard USS Rupertus until 1961 when he was honorably discharged.
In 1963, Lyle moved back to Seiling, OK where he took a position at McNeill Grain, Managing the Seiling Elevator, while also working on the family farm raising wheat and cattle. Lyle also drove a bus for Seiling Public Schools, where he developed many great friendships with coaches and staff. While in Seiling, Lyle held many positions including Managing a Saving and Trust Co, owning the Seiling Cleaners, working for S&W Oil Co, and Managing Seiling Lumber.
Lyle married Lois Catherine (England) Fuqua on August 5 th , 1967. They raised three children together, Laresa, Ladawna and Lance. He loved his family and especially his children and grandchildren and enjoyed attending their activities, including volunteering with Special Olympics for his grandson Cody.
Lyle was an avid golfer and loved fishing, hunting, boating on the lake and camping in New Mexico and Colorado. He always had stories and memories to share, especially when it came to golfing with his buddies, Gene "Doc" Decker, Berny Sander, and Gene Ward.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Seiling, where he served for many years as the door greeter. Lyle loved welcoming everyone to church, shaking hands and teasing the kids that he loved so much. He enjoyed helping with Bible School and was always willing to do whatever needed to be done around the church. Lyle also attended One Life Church, where his son is the Pastor, and he enjoyed the worship music. During his retirement years he made a ministry of visiting the sick in the hospital, shut ins and helping those in need. Lyle served wherever he could for as long as he could.
Lyle was preceded in death by his Father, Dee, his mother Leota, his step-mother Wilma (Bryant) Fuqua, sister Linda Ashley, and his in-laws Earl and Merle England. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Lois of the home, daughter Laresa Kizer and husband Harlan of Mooreland, OK, daughter Ladawna Hunter of Moore, OK, son Lance and wife Jessica of Seiling, OK, his brother Dean and wife Shirleen of Longview, WA, brother Don Cook and wife Jeanette of Dennison, TX, brother in-law Larry England and wife Mary Ann of Medicine Lodge, KS, eight grandchildren, Cody McCoy, Madison Seymour and husband Jay, Kenzy Rivers and husband Daylen, Makayla Stephens and husband Nicholas, Hallee Fuqua, Kyle Kizer, Skylar Owens, Trey Fuqua, and 1 Great-grandbaby Seymour due in April, as well as many cousins and lots of great friends.
Lyle's celebration of life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 21 st , at One Life Church in Seiling, OK.
Memorial donations in Lyle's honor may be made to the One Life Church Building Fund in care of Redinger Funeral Home (Box 236, Seiling, OK 73663)
