Obituary

Lynda Ruth Wiginton was born August 21, 1932, to Delbert and Elizabeth Wiginton in Altus, Oklahoma.  Lynda started School at Friendship, OK and then attended Mangum Public School where she graduated with the Class of 1950.

Lynda loved to play basketball, and she was a very good athlete.  She played during the era when you could only take one dribble.  In one memorable basketball game, Lynda missed 28 free shots, but in the same game, she made 32 points under the goal.  She was teased about this a lot, but she didn't mind, and she could probably claim fame for missing more free shots in one game than anyone else ever did.

On January 16, 1953, she married Gerald Daugherty in Woodward, Oklahoma.   They lived in Weatherford where they went to college.  On August 20, 1954, they welcomed their daughter Deeann, in Mangum, Oklahoma.  Their son, Rusty, was born on November 5, 1957, in Altus, Oklahoma.

When Rusty was 5 years old, he became ill with Diabetes.  They were living in Watonga at the time, and it was a struggle to keep Rusty healthy while he was growing and being a boy.  When Rusty was 12, he became ill with Reye's Syndrome and died suddenly.  There wasn't much known about Reyes at this time, and no one had survived it.  This was the saddest time in their lives and until the day Lynda died, she thought about Rusty and missed him dearly.  It was because of Lynda's strong belief in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, that she was able to get through this difficult time.  She always said, "How can people get through things like this without God".  Her faith carried her through and her prayers for comfort were answered.

In 1993, she was united in marriage to Jim Pittman. They made their home in Seiling, Oklahoma and she instantly had another family to love and care for, and she dearly loved them all.

Lynda possessed an unwavering faith and was a member and attended the Church of Christ in Seiling. Lynda had a special bond that could not be broken with her sisters Betty and Judy, this bond brought a special comfort to Lynda knowing she could count on their support and love.  Lynda always said she was blessed to have such a great and rewarding life and thanked God every day for her blessings.

One of Lynda's favorite pastimes was having coffee with her group of friends.  It meant so much to her to have such caring friends.  They could solve all the world's problems over a cup of coffee.

Lynda's memory will forever be cherished by her daughter Deeann and her husband Alan, grandchildren Emily and husband Matty, Elizabeth and partner Derrick, and Mark and his wife Jennifer.  She also leaves behind great grandchildren, Noah, Aydin, Madeline, Collins, Savannah, and Scarlett.

Lynda is also survived by her stepchildren: Kirk and Charlotte Pittman, David and Jennifer Pittman, Shantel Pittman, and Rhonda and Mike Unser; grandchildren Brock and wife McKenzie, Veronique, Jackson, Ava, Samuel, Chris and wife Emily; and several Pittman great-grandchildren.

Lynda was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Pittman, son Rusty, her parents, her brother, and two brothers-in-law.

There are other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends who will miss Lynda's presence in their lives.  She will be remembered with great fondness by all who were fortunate to have met her.  She is resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior now.
