Marie Esther Weems, of Seiling, passed from this life on September 6, 2024 at the age of 75.  She was born on January 17, 1949 at the Woodward Hospital to Charles and Lolabelle Merriman.  She grew up in the Woodward area graduating from Woodward High School.  She then attended NWOSU and OSU.

On September 24, 1971 she was united in marriage to John Dennis Weems and to this union two sons, Patrick and Jerry were born.  The couple lived briefly in Woodward, then Fairview, before settling in their permanent home, Seiling.  Marie was a homemaker who loved to garden, especially irises and peonies.  She was also a member of the Young Homemakers of Oklahoma.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by two brothers: Vernon Merriman and Bob Merriman.

Marie leaves her legacy behind with her family: her husband of 52 years, John Weems of the home; son Patrick Weems of Woodward, son Jerry Weems of Chickasha, OK; brothers Charles Merriman of Shreveport, LA, and Albert Merriman of Seiling; sisters Becky Vanaki and Babe Merriman, both of Woodward; 2 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, several nieces and nephews; and special caring friend Amy Carter and lifetime friend Dava Carter, as well as other friends and family.
