Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 18, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church of Seiling with Pastors Shane Sander and Daniel Hammans. Burial will follow at Brumfield Cemetery in Seiling. Mary Ann was born August 29, 1933, during the Great Depression to Fred William Plautz and Sophie Marie (Lange) Plautz in Lincoln, Nebraska. She resided on the farm in Malcolm, NE attending a Lutheran School until 1943, at which time the family moved to Burlington, CO where she grew up and attended the Lutheran Church and Burlington Public Schools. Upon her graduation, she remained in Burlington, working and helping her family farm, and later she attended Park School of Business in Denver. ON August 10, 1958, she married Ronald "Tuff" Lee Simmons and moved to Quinlan, OK, residing on a farm for 25 years. To this marriage two children were born, Julie Gail in 1962 and Stacey Lynn in 1964. In 1992, the farm was sold, and she moved to Mooreland where she worked for Western Farmers Electric Cooperative for 18 years. Upon retirement, she moved back to Burlington to reside and care for her mother for 6 years. In 2002, she moved to Seiling, OK where she lived until her death. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Seiling, and devoted many years of volunteer work at the Seiling-Chester Senior Citizens Center. Through her involvement with her community and organizations, Mary Ann made many friends during her lifetime. She loved flowers, maintaining a beautiful yard, sewing (making many quilts), helping people in need, church work, playing cards, and playing with her great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Gerald Plautz, Ronald Simmons, and long-time friend Wesley Matteson. Cherishing her memory are her two daughters Julie Williams and Stacey Stafford; five grandchildren, Michael (Mischelle) Brunner, Chris (Destrye) Sander, Angela Brunner, Casey (Zachary) Helterbrake, and Eric Sander; 9 great grandchildren, Sierra Brunner, Robert Hyora, Ceion Seewright, Roselynn Sander, Avery Helterbrake, Sebastian Brunner, Alyza Sander, Shelby Brunner, and Asher Helterbrake, with another great grand on the way, who she was excited to greet into the world.
