Milford Dean Wheeler began his life on September 8, 1929, when he was welcomed by his parents Hugh Emerson (John) Wheeler and Regina I. Gindlesberger Wheeler in Alva, Oklahoma.  He went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 30, 2024, at the age of 95 years, 1 month, and 22 days.

Milford spent his early years in the Alva area with his family.  He attended Alva Washington grade school through the 8th grade.

Milford proudly served our country as part of the Army National Guard from September of 1948 through June of 1952.  During this time, he attained the rank of Pvt.  During his service, Milford was awarded the Army Occupation Medal – Japan, United Nations Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal with Bronze Campaign Star.

On September 4, 1954, Milford was united in marriage to the love of his life, Rachel Louise Herbst, in Alva, Oklahoma. The couple first made their home in Alva and later moved to Woodward, Oklahoma.  Milford and Rachel were blessed with two children, Debra Sue and Brian Dean.

Milford worked for ONG and also worked as a welder. He enjoyed fishing, camping, photography, and mostly his cherished family.  He was also a member of the VFW.

Milford had a deep love for his Lord and Savior and was a member of the Friends Church.  His faith was always an important part of who he was.

Milford is preceded in death by his parents, John and Regina, and his brother Emerson Hugh Wheeler.  He leaves behind his loving wife of 70 years, Rachel, and children Debra Sue Foster of Woodward, OK and son Brian Dean Wheeler also of Woodward.  Milford's presence will also be missed by his sister, Barbara Wheeler Hunt of Alva, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Although Milford is no longer living among us, his memory will forever be cherished in our hearts.
