Obituary

Norman Lee Louthan, son of Roy and Emma (Bensch) Louthan was born October 3 rd , 1930, southeast of Chester, Oklahoma.  He departed this life on Monday, February 22, 2021, at the Weatherwood Assisted Living Facility located in Weatherford, Oklahoma, at the age of 90 years.

Norman was raised on the family farm near Chester, OK and attended Lakeside school through the 8 th grade.  He then continued his education at Seiling High School where he graduated in 1949.

Norman was married to Jackie L. Schallner on October 2, 1949 at the Orion Baptist Church, and from this union two children, Douglas Lee and Michael "Brent" were born.  The couple made their home on the family farm southeast of Chester, Oklahoma until moving to their current residence in 1953.  Norman was a hard working man and through the years he was employed by Western Butane, First National Bank of Seiling, Seiling Hardware, Clark's Construction, and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.  He also served on numerous Church Boards.

Norman was very handy.  He could make anything and enjoyed tinkering with anything and everything.  He made various items from PVC pipe and beaded all kinds of crafts and decorations.  He loved to camp.  Many weekends were spent at Canton lake with family and friends and church service was always held each Sunday at the camping site.  Norman loved to go boating and skiing.  He taught many young people how to ski.  He and Jackie traveled many places throughout their lives and after retirement they spent the winter months in south Texas.  He was an avid sports enthusiast.  He loved to watch his grandkids and great-grandkids play ball and usually voiced his "concern" of the officiating.  He loved to play card games and board games and always seemed to win at whatever game was being played.

Norman was preceded in death by his wife Jackie, his parents, Roy and Emma (Bensch) Louthan.  Three sisters:  Agnes Holub, Myrtle Cronkhite, and Wilma Eliot, and  two Brothers:  Earnest Louthan and Elden Louthan.  Left to cherish the memories are his sons, Doug Louthan and wife Cindy of Weatherford, and Brent Louthan and wife Nancy of Seiling:  grandchildren Cory and Krystal Louthan of Aurora, CO, Ashley and Lance Floyd of Woodward, OK, and Megan and Josh Tobitt of Goldsboro, NC:  five great-grandchildren Tatum, Talyn, Makale, Brycee, and Taylor. He is also survived by two sisters: Betty Brady and Carol Gilchrist, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Seiling. Interment will follow at Brumfield Cemetery.
