IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rodney Loy
Davis
March 9, 1934 – December 28, 2025
Rodney Loy Davis, age 91, died in his home, surrounded by his family on December 28, 2025.
Rodney was the 5th of 6 children born to Harold and Mabel (Stoll) Davis on March 9th, 1934 at the family farm in Oakwood Ok. He completed Oakwood school through the 8th grade. Rodney's love for cattle and farming began at an early age working on the family farm West of Oakwood.
In 1953, while riding around with a friend, he met Nola Jean Nunn of Watonga and they were married on June 30, 1955. They settled down near Oakwood, where they farmed and raised cattle. Rodney and Nola Jean had 3 children, Lavica Jean, Anita Ann, and Rodney Alan.
In 1969, they bought another farm and moved the family to Hucmac. He was a hard worker and expected the same from all around him. Rodney worked as a "roughneck" on local drilling rigs while continuing farming and raising cattle. Beginning in 1980, he focused on the ranch full-time, raising registered Simmental cattle and adding land with a fishing pond near Hillsboro, TX in 1985. He sold his last group of steers in October, 2025.
Rodney and Nola Jean enjoyed traveling and took their children camping in National Parks in the West and Southwest and visiting out of state relatives. Later, they took cruises to Hawaii, Alaska, and the Panama Canal.
Rodney loved his family, playing and acting silly with his grandkids and great-grandkids, taking them to local rodeos, and sharing his love of ranching. He especially enjoyed playing Pitch and Razzle Dazzle and was known to 'triple shoot the moon' before looking at his cards. Rue often bet high against impossible odds and came out winning. Rodney enjoyed fishing with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Harold and Mabel, brothers Adrian, Omer, Lemuel; sisters Della Jane Keck and Mary Ashby.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Nola Jean; children, Lavica (Dale)Seal, Anita (Bill) Tufts and Alan Davis.
Grandchildren: Jeff (Savanna) Seal, Katie (Chad) Kaska, Kyle (Megan) Tufts, Kary (Jody) Buzbee, Jokari McMillen, Kendra (Derek) Vermillion, and Brock Davis.
Great Grandchildren: Cannon Seal, Quintin, Camille and Kiera Kaska,Easton, Eli and Jolee Buzbee, Maya McMillen, Summer Davis and baby Vermillion on the way. Sister-n-law Coleta Stark and brother-n- law Leon Nunn, nieces: Patty Hamilton, Kathy McClure, and Karen Sue Everett. And family and friends in the farming community.
Special thanks to the kind staff of ACG Hospice and caregiver, Melissa Hindman, and our Hucmac neighbors.
We will close with his favorite way to say goodbye
