Rupert Edward Irving was born on April 7, 1937, to parents Ruben and Thelma (Ruppert) Irving in Oakwood, Oklahoma. He departed this life on July 5, 2022, at the age of 85 years, 2 months, and 28 days. Rupert and his family resided in the Oakwood area. He attended the Oakwood school and graduated with the Class of 1955. Rupert was a hard-working individual, at the age of 16, he worked with a harvest crew cutting wheat. Throughout the years he has worked many jobs which included a pipeline worker, Owner/operator of Irving's Texaco, and Irving and Sons Construction. Rupert was best known for serving as County Commissioner for Dewey County for 18 years. Rupert was united in marriage to Loretta Hurt and the couple were blessed with three sons, Bruce, Terry, and Brad. On February 6, 1976, Rupert and Madalyn Welch were married in Woodward, OK. They made their home at the Oakwood farm. Rupert was always active in the community, he served on Seiling Hospital Board and also the Seiling Town Board. Rupert was a believer in Christ and a attended the Church of Christ in Canton, Oklahoma. Rupert very much enjoyed fishing and the great outdoors. His greatest joys came from spending time with his family and his many friends. Rupert is preceded in death by his wives, Loretta and Madalyn, three sisters: Earnestine Little, Marilyn Olson, and Elizabeth Irving, and two brothers; Clyde Irving and Mac Irving. Rupert is survived by his children Bruce and wife Deborah, Terry and wife Donna, and Brad and husband Tony. Others that will cherish his memory are four grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, ten nieces and nephews that he considered his grandchildren, other relatives, and many, many friends. Everywhere that Rupert went, he would always find someone he knew, and he never missed the chance to say hello and shake their hand.
