Scott Willis Hinton was born October 3, 1957, to Floyd and Bettye Elizabeth (Willis) Hinton, in Santa Ana, California. He passed from this life on Saturday January 29, 2022.
Scottie grew up on Hinton Way with his siblings Richard, Randy, and Shawnee. Scottie graduated in 1975 from El Modena High School. Scottie came to know the Lord and was baptized in Texas in 1996.
Scottie joined the U.S. Airforce in 1983. While in the Air Force, he served during Desert Storm, in Saudi Arabia. While he was stationed in California, Scott welcomed his first child Amy into the world on April 7, 1986, and then on December 17, 1987, Nicole was born.
Scottie was honorably discharged from the Air Force in December of 1989. The family then moved to Texas where his first son was born. Timothy was welcomed into this world on June 20, 1997. While in Texas, Scottie went to work for the Metro Police Department in Houston, TX from 1992 until 2005. During his time in Texas, his favorite hobby was racing for Hinton Family Racing. He competed regularly in quarter mile drag races. After leaving the police department, Scottie went on a new adventure for the State Department from 2006 until 2008. This adventure involved doing military work in Afghanistan.
After returning from Afghanistan, he moved to South Padre Island, TX, where he managed loading fuel tankers on the docks. Scottie was then laid off and decided to move to Oklahoma and work in the oilfield.
Oklahoma is where he met the love of his life, Diana. They dated for a short time and then were married on February 14, 2014. They lived in Oklahoma until moving to Florence, AZ, in January of 2015. In January of 2017, they bought a RV and made their home on the road. They traveled and saw many things. During their travels Diana was employed as a traveling nurse which allowed them to enjoy life to its fullest. Some of the adventures they enjoyed experiencing were seeing family, children, grand babies, and long-time friends. When his health began declining, Scottie and Diana made their home in Taloga, OK, where they resided from July of 2020 until his passing on January 29, 2022.
Scottie is survived by his wife Diana Hinton of the home, daughter Nicole and husband Ryan Brown of Seabrook, TX, son and best friend Timothy Hinton of Woodlands, TX, and two bonus children, Kena and husband Carson Moss of Vici, OK, and Houston and wife Riley Davis of Henry, NB. Also left to cherish his memories are two grandsons, Eli and Connor Brown and eight bonus grandchildren, Mother-in-law Dorothy Clark of Taloga, OK, brothers Richard Hinton and wife Peggy of New Mexico, Randy Hinton and wife Cleo of California, and sister, Shawnee Brubaker and husband Steve of California. Also surviving are in-laws Coleta Bratten and husband Keith of Oklahoma, Butch Clark and wife Kristie of Oklahoma, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and one great-great niece. There are many friends from all over the world who will miss Scottie's presence.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Bettye Hinton, one daughter, Amy Hinton, and many Brothers-in-Arms.
