Obituary

Stephen Charles Ogden, a beloved 72-year-old resident of Oakwood, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2024, at his home. Born on September 8, 1952, in Thomas, Oklahoma, to Aaron Gene and Virginia Mae (Hutton) Ogden, Steve lived his entire life in the Oakwood community, leaving an enduring legacy of service, love, and kindness.

Steve attended Oakwood Public School before completing his high school years at Taloga Public Schools. On May 25, 1974, he married the love of his life, Dema Kay Riesland, in Taloga, Oklahoma. Their love story spanned more than 50 years, and they recently celebrated their golden anniversary. Together, they built a life full of joy, raising their two beautiful daughters, Mandy Beth and Kelly Jean.

Steve proudly served his country as a member of the Oklahoma National Guard from 1971 to 1977. After high school, he began a career with Dewey County, working as a road grader operator under Kenneth Cook and later as county foreman under Lindy Sander. In 1990, Steve was elected County Commissioner, a role he held with dedication until 2004. Upon retirement, he focused on ranching and farming, pursuing his passion full-time.

A member of Oakwood Christian Church, Steve was baptized in April 1965, anchoring his life in faith. He cherished supporting his daughters and grandchildren, attending countless basketball games, softball tournaments, and livestock shows. Watching his grandchildren, Brian, Kaylen, Elijah, and Isaiah, brought him endless pride and joy.

Steve was deeply involved in his community. He served as a volunteer firefighter for 25 years with the Oakwood Fire Department and was active in the JC Organizations and Oklahoma Farmer's Union Board. A friend to all, he was known for his generous spirit, unwavering support, and love for his neighbors and friends.

Steve's adventurous side shone through his love of travel, often exploring new sights with Dema and their friends. He will be remembered for his warm heart, kind soul, and his lasting impact on everyone he met.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Virginia Ogden; his in-laws, Melvin and Lois Riesland; and his brother-in-law, Ronnie Clark.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Dema Ogden, of Oakwood, OK; daughters Mandy Jones and husband Brad of Thomas, OK, and Kelly Raji and husband Sheriff of Weatherford, OK; grandchildren Brian and Kaylen Jones and Elijah and Isaiah Raji; step-grandchildren Malachi Amos and Taylor Jones; sister Sharon Mussman of Almena, KS; two aunts; four nieces; five nephews; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

He will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
