IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ted K
Craighead
December 28, 1939 – March 21, 2025
Theodore "Ted" K. Craighead, 85, of Weatherford, Oklahoma, peacefully passed away on March 21, 2025. Born on December 28, 1939, in Woodward, Oklahoma, Ted was the beloved son of Ralph and Roberta Craighead.
Ted married the love of his life, Odalee Bullock, on April 10, 1963, in Rocky, Oklahoma. Their union was a testament to love, commitment, and partnership, lasting for more than 61 years. Together, they raised three sons: Cliff, Clint, and Clay.
Ted's greatest joy was his family. His happiest moments were spent with his beloved wife, Odalee, and his family, creating lasting memories filled with love, laughter, and connection. He took immense pride in being a grandfather to Gaige, Ryan, Cassidy, and Macenzie, and a loving great-grandfather to Emma Lynn. His presence in their lives provided a foundation of wisdom, strength, and commitment to unwavering love. He cherished attending his children and grandchildren's activities, always offering unwavering support and encouragement. Ted enjoyed working on the farm with his family, where they shared in the rewards of hard work and the simple joys of life. In addition, he took great pride in running the family farming implement dealership with his dad, Ralph Craighead, a venture that brought him immense satisfaction.
In 1959, Ted enlisted in the United States Army, serving with distinction for six years. During his service, he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant (E6), earning the respect and admiration of his peers. Ted was honorably discharged in 1965. Throughout his military service and following his discharge, he remained committed to his education, ultimately earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1966.
Ted had a distinguished and diverse career. He began his career working out of state as a pharmaceutical representative until he moved his family back to Oklahoma to run the family farm. Staying true to his passion, Ted continued to work the farm while also taking on additional jobs in various fields to help support his family until he retired in 2018. Ted and his dad Ralph co-owned and operated a successful farming implement dealership. After selling the family business, he then joined the Woodward County Assessor's office, where his dedication to public service grew, eventually inspiring him to run for Woodward County Commissioner. Ted proudly served four consecutive terms as Commissioner from 1996 until his retirement in 2012. Throughout his tenure, he was deeply committed to his community, with one of his most significant achievements being helping secure funding and approval for the new county jail in Woodward, which broke ground in 2010. His passion for public service was evident in his years as Woodward County Commissioner, and he always found joy in lending a helping hand to those in need.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Roberta Craighead; his sister, Lynda Wood; and his beloved son, Clay Craighead. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 62 years, Odalee Craighead; his sons, Cliff Craighead and wife Deena, and Clint Craighead and fiancée Jennifer. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Gaige Reese and husband Baron, Ryan Craighead, Cassidy Craighead, and Macenzie Craighead and fiancée Wyatt, as well as his great-grandchild, Emma Lynn. Ted is further survived by his brother, Chris Craighead and wife Paige, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
